Asia Cup 2023: Shahid Afridi hit back at Gautam Gambhir’s ‘friendly’ statement. India and Pakistan are going to face each other for the second time in the Asia Cup.

After clashing in the group stage on September 2, now on September 10, both teams will face each other in the Super-4. Earlier, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has given his response to a comment by former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir.

During the Indo-Pak encounter in the group stage, Gambhir had said that friendship between teams should be left outside the field.

Speaking on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir had said:

The India-Pakistan match in the first match of the Asia Cup was washed out due to rain. During this, while speaking on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir said “When you play the field for your national team, you should leave friendship out of bounds.

Friendship should be outside. After those six or seven hours of cricket, you can be as social as you want.”

Gambhir had said “These days you see players of rival teams patting each other on the back during matches. You wouldn’t have seen this till a few years back.”

When Pakistani media questioned Shahid Afridi on this comment of Gambhir, he took a strong dig at it.

That’s why it will be better if you give the message of love. Yes, there is aggression on the field, but there is life off it as well.
