According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Litton was diagnosed with viral fever, and his body weakness was so severe that he had to be ruled out of the tournament. It is unclear if he will return to the squad after recovering. Anamul Haque had last played an ODI in the home series against India in December.

“He (Anamul) has been in the runs in domestic cricket. We have continued to monitor him in the Bangladesh Tigers program. He was always in our consideration,” said Minhajul Abedin, Chairman of the National Selection Panel.

“Due to Litton’s unavailability, we needed a top-order batter who could keep wicket, and Anamul got the nod.”
