A day before the start of Asia Cup 2023, Sri Lanka has announced its 15-member squad. The defending champions are battling with injuries to their key players and the team will take part in the tournament without four big players. Wanindu Hasaranga, who has been a force to be reckoned with both with the bat and the ball in the Lanka Premier League, has failed to make it to the team due to injury.

Defending champions Sri Lanka have announced their 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023. The team is troubled by the injuries of its main players and this is the reason that Sri Lanka has announced its squad just a day before the start of the tournament. Kusal Perera returns to the ODI team after two years, but will join the team after recovering from flu.

Four important players out :-

In the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka will go on the field to defend the title without its four main players. Wanindu Hasaranga is recovering from a thigh strain and due to this he will not be a part of the team in the tournament. At the same time, fast bowlers Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara and Lahiru Madushanka will also not be able to take part in the Asia Cup due to injury. Binura Fernando and Pramod Madhusan have been included in the squad at the last moment.

Sri Lanka’s first encounter with Bangladesh: –

Sri Lanka will open their campaign in Asia Cup 2023 against Bangladesh. The match between the two teams will be played on August 31. Sri Lanka had captured the title by performing well last year. Under the captaincy of Dasun Shanak, the team defeated Pakistan in the final.
