Off-spinner Sahan Arachchige has been included in the Sri Lankan team in place of Theekshana. Tikshina suffered this hamstring injury during the Super-4 match played against Pakistan on Thursday.
Theekshana’s exclusion is a big blow for Sri Lanka ahead of the final as he has been the main weapon of Sri Lanka’s attack in the Asia Cup.
Theekshana Took 8 Wickets in 5 Matches Of The Asia Cup:-
Maheesh took 8 wickets in 5 matches of the Asia Cup. In the Super-4 match against India, Teekshana took 1 wicket for 41 runs.
Sri Lanka Cricket Board has issued a statement regarding the injury of Maheesh Theekshana and said that the scan of this spinner has confirmed his muscle injury.
Hence he will not be available for the Asia Cup final and off-spinner Sahan Arachchige has been included in the team in his place.
Maheesh Theekshana was Injured in The Super-4 Match Against Pakistan:-
While bowling with the new ball for Sri Lanka against Pakistan on Thursday, Maheesh Theekshana gave 14 runs in his 5 overs and sent Mohammad Nawaz back to the pavilion.
Theekshana suffered this injury while trying to stop a ball from crossing the boundary on the fifth ball of the 34th over of the innings and after that he was seen in a lot of pain.
After this, when he returned for another spell in the 35th over, Tikshina was seen limping and it seemed that he had strained his hamstring.
In the 39th over, with the help of the support staff, Theekshana left the field and did not return, although there were still three overs left in his quota.

23-year-old Theekshana made his ODI debut for Sri Lanka in 2021 and has taken 44 wickets in his 27 ODIs so far.
