John Mooney is a former Irish cricketer. Mooney made his first-class debut in 2004. He previously represented Ireland in the 2000 Under-19 World Cup and captained Ireland A.

He made his One Day International (ODI) debut in Ireland’s opening match at Pralekh in 2006. In January 2010, Mooney became one of six players with a full-time agreement with Cricket Ireland.

He was selected “Ireland Player of the Year” for 2010. His brother Paul has also represented Ireland in international cricket.

John’s Coaching Career :-

John was selected as the fielding coach of the Denmark national cricket team in February 2016. He is joined by his former Irish teammate Jeremy Bray who is the team’s head coach and his first assignment is the World Cricket League Division Four.

In January 2018, John was appointed as Afghanistan’s fielding coach by his former Ireland coach Phil Simmons. In January 2020, he returned to his background with the Danish team, before their fixtures in the 2020 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament.

His Cricket Career :-

Mooney was included in the Ireland team as a bowler for the first time. He made his first-class debut in July 2004 in an ICC Intercontinental Cup match against the Netherlands.

He batted once, did not score a run, and did not bowl before Edgar Schiferli was lbw.

John traveled to Australia to play club cricket. His intention was to play a longer script of the game, in which his team batted for 92 overs, aiming for selection to Ireland’s first-class side.

He also said that he wanted the opportunity to bowl longer in Australia in an attempt to revive his form.
