He started out as a batting all-rounder, but in 2012, under the supervision of the bowling coach, Dayal Headley, brother of Richard Headley, he gradually transformed into a bowler.

He made his Twenty20 debut for Canterbury in the 2016–17 Super Smash on 4 December 2016. In June 2018, he was coveting a deal with Canterbury for the 2018–19 season.

June 2021, Jamieson was signing by Surrey County Cricket Club to play matches for them after the end of the 2021 ICC World Test Championship final.

August 2021, Kyle was naming to New Zealand’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
