2 ‘Dronacharya’ of Bharat’s Life Who Paved the Way for Team India

Although there was a time when Bharat was not sure of playing for his Indian team but his coach had faith in him.

Bharat Can Play for Team India

His two coaches have played an important role in bringing Bharat here and giving him confidence, who like Dronacharya, prepared the way for Bharat for Team India and took him forward on it. It was Dravid who instilled in Bharat the belief that he was capable of playing on the big stage. It was Dravid who breathed life into Bharat and then this player batted in such a way that his confidence reached the seventh sky. Apart from Dravid, Bharat had another coach who had said long ago that Bharat is Team India can play for. Bharat himself has told this story.

Dravid’s Words and Bharat’s Century

Bharat Gherlu was continuously earning name in cricket. Bharat has scored a triple century in the first class in 2015 and he was the first wicketkeeper-batsman from India to do so. He reached India-A only on the basis of domestic cricket. Then Rahul Dravid used to be the coach of India-A. Then there was a match when the team was in trouble and Dravid sent Bharat to the field, but before that he had instilled confidence in Bharat with his words.

Bharat BCCI. Told in an interview to TV, “We were playing our first India-A series in England. When Dravid sir was the coach. Then I talked to him. He never tried to change me and only said that you should remain who you are. you are doing well. There was one match when he told me that this is an opportunity where you can tell where you are and where you can go from here. It is not a matter of proving anything to anyone. Rather it is an opportunity when you can challenge yourself, whether you can play the game at the next level or not. In that match, we had lost our three-four wickets against Sri Lanka, that too for 40 runs. From there we scored more than 250 runs in that match, out of which 120 runs were mine. Then I came to know that if your mindset is good, your thinking is good then you will be benefited. All these things benefited me.

The Coach Predicted

Bharat said that he was not sure of playing for Team India. But his coach had told him that he is capable of playing in the Indian team. He said, “To be honest, I never thought about this day. But my coach Jayakrishna Rao believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. He had told me at the time of under-19 itself that you have the talent to do wicketkeeping for India. I thought it’s okay, it’s a long way, don’t know about tomorrow.
