Abdul said – ‘It’s good for cricket if Asia Cup venue is shifted out of Pakistan’

Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq struck a pragmatic tone while discussing the change of venue for the Asia Cup, urging that it is “good for cricket” if it is shifted outside Pakistan.

Abdul Razzaq said –

“It is good for cricket. And for cricket promotion. India-Pakistan matches take place only in ICC tournaments. If Asia Cup is shifted to Dubai then it is the best option. It is good for cricket and cricketers “

When the host asked whether India should be barred from hosting major tournaments if they continue to pick and choose, Razzaq disagreed.

He said – “It doesn’t happen. This has been going on for years. If both the boards sit across the table and gossip, that would be great. Both the boards should sort out this issue.”

Khalid Mahmood, a former PCB chairman, was disappointed with India’s stand but was realistic. He urged the PCB to start talking to other ICC members.

Khalid Mahmood said –

“The world does not run on ideology and principles; Otherwise ICC should show its strength and tell India that ‘Who are you, don’t you go to play Asia Cup in Pakistan?’ But India has a lot of influence on the ICC.”

“If we host the Asia Cup without India and its players, corporate sponsorship will stop. Big money will stop. And it will not be a glamorous tournament without them. It will be a weak tournament. We will also lose money.”
