ACB Appoints Mirwais Ashraf As Acting Chairman

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has appointed Mirwais Ashraf as its acting president. Ashraf, a former international, took charge of the troubled board on Tuesday (November 23). The ACB said the prescribed was as per its constitution.

Ashraf will replace Azizullah Fazli :-

Mirwais Ashraf, who has played 46 ODIs and 25 T20Is in a seven-year career between 2009. And 2016, will replace Azizullah Fazli. Who took charge of the ACB in August shortly after the change of government in the country.

Azizullah Fazli and Mirwais Ashraf belong to various factions of the government that guide the Taliban in Afghanistan. An ACB spokesperson confirmed to Cricbuzz that the board would soon complete the election strategy.

Immediately after taking over, Ashraf stressed that the board’s priority would be to establish good relations with the International Cricket Council and other national boards.

ACB will ensure :-

Additionally, he released, the ACB will ensure that women in Afghanistan get to play the game normally.

“Our girls will be playing cricket normally and we are looking to provide all facilities to them,” Ashraf said while holding a meeting with the administrators of various departments of the board.

He also stressed the expectation of adhering to the ICC guidelines and said that the ACB attaches importance to the requirements of the world body. It may be noted that the ICC recently set up a working group to report on the condition of the ACB.

CEO Naseeb Khan said :-

CEO Naseeb Khan said that the ACB will live up to the expectations of 30 million Afghans and summarized that he had a fruitful meeting with Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India recently in Dubai.

“We have had a genesis meeting with BCCI chief Mr. Sourav Ganguly, and also with officials from other cricketing countries to discuss whether to have a bilateral relationship with him,” he said in a statement.
