Sri Lanka announced ODI team: Sri Lanka has announced a strong 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match One Day International series against Afghanistan. After a disappointing performance in the World Cup 2023, the team captained by Kusal Mendis performed well in the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Once again, when the team comes to play the white ball series, the focus of the team will be on repeating the same performance. However, Dasun Shanaka, who captained in the World Cup 2023, has not been selected for this series starting from February 9 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Former captain Dasun Shanaka is out of the team :-

The team management has dropped former captain Dasun Shanaka from the ODI team. All-rounder Dasun Shanaka was Sri Lanka’s poster boy during their spectacular victory in the Asia Cup 2022, but his form has declined in recent times, forcing the selection committee to look at other options.

Shanaka played in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, but did not perform well. Even in the World Cup his performance was not good. In such a situation, the team management and selectors have dropped him from the team for the home series.
