Afghanistan’s Eight Cricketers And Three Members of Support Staff Tested Positive for Covid-19

Afghanistan’s Eight cricketers and three members of the support staff have tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

Sylhet International Cricket Stadium:-

Touring members who passed that test have started practice at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday (February 15).

A 22-man Afghanistan team arrived in Dhaka on 12 February and moved to Sylhet the next day to attend a preparatory camp ahead of three ODIs, two T20Is.

The three cricketers later joined the touring squad after completing their stints in the Bangladesh Premier League.

The Included in ODI Series Squad:-

Prominent Afghan stars Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, who are currently participating in the Pakistan Super League, will feature in the squad ahead of the ODI series.

Cricbuzz understands that the team had practiced on 14 February before receiving the conclusions of their tests. Once the findings were knowing. The touring party decided to go into isolation.

“Look, now they are not under our protocol, giving that the series will start from February 19, but now they will give whatever permission they want,” a BCB official said on Tuesday.

They have to be transferred to the hospital:-

“If the symptoms are mild then they will be keeping in isolation and if not then we will have to shift them to the hospital. But at present. They are looking after their well-being,” he said.

Those who have tested positive are expecting to be testing again in five to seven days and if they get support. They can start practicing with other team members.

The Afghanistan team is scheduling to fly to Chattogram on February 19 to play. An ODI series begins on February 23. Both the teams will travel to Dhaka for two T20Is on March 3 and 5.
