After loss in the first Test, Ben Stokes expressed his pain, said – Defeat is a painful feeling

Australia have won the first Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham and have taken a 0-1 lead in the series. Chasing 281 in the fourth innings, England were reduced to eight wickets for Australia’s 227 runs, but thanks to an unbeaten 55-run partnership between Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon, the team snatched victory from the jaws of England.

Stokes said in the ceremony after the match –

“We managed to play matches for five days. There were a lot of ups and downs in the match. It was a match that we will never forget that we were a part of. We wanted people to enjoy the match and we succeeded in doing that. We will try to attract more attention in the next four Ashes matches.”

Stokes further said – “Defeat is defeat. Losing hurts and winning is a great feeling. If we keep moving forward and will not stop even after defeat. Sometimes we end up with bad decisions due to wrong decisions, just like in this match.”

Second Test will be held on June 28 –

England had declared their first innings at 393 for the loss of eight wickets and at this time Joe Root was playing very well. Many people were surprised by this decision. Stokes said that England wanted to put pressure on the Australian batsmen till the end of the day’s play. The second Test of the series will be played on Wednesday, June 28 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
