New Zealand legspinner Amelia Kerr has pulled out of the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League season to continue focusing on her mental health.
Last month, Amelia Kerr was ruled out of New Zealand’s tour of England. And has now confirmed that he is still not ready to resume competitive cricket.
“I’m making really good progress and look forward to continuing it,” Kerr said in a statement. “It’s a tough decision because I love representing Brisbane Heat. And I can’t speak enough about the support team and the players.
“I will follow the tournament with great interest and please the team from New Zealand.”
Brisbane Heat head coach Ashley Knopke has backed Kerr’s decision. And have said, “We have been in regular contact with Mellie, her family and broad support network. We fully understand the decision she made. And support her,” Knopke said.
“She has been honest and brave with her decisions. And the Heat will be ready and ready to assist her in the future. Whether it is for her return to play or simply as part of her Australian circle of friends and teammates What I will happily do is best for him.”
There is now one overseas spot left in the Heat’s squad for the tournament starting October 14.
