Angelo Mathews may be ruled out of the LPL due to a thigh strain during the ongoing Test against WI. With Mathews’ quadriceps strain putting his participation in the Lanka Premier League in doubt.

The Sri Lankan Cricket Doctors Advised :-

Angelo Mathews himself expected. That he would be in the first few days of the tournament or between three and four matches. But Sri Lanka cricket doctors have advised. That the tension could be more discreet, and Mathew could potentially miss the entire tournament. The LPL will start from Sunday and will continue till December 23.

“An MRI scan has been done, but the results are not clear,” SLC’s chief medical officer Dr. Daminda Atnayke told ESPNcricinfo. “We would expect to do another MRI around December 4th, and we would have a direct picture.”

The Consultation Shared With Physicians :-

The results of that second test will also be sharing with consulting physicians abroad, Daminda Atanayake said.

Angelo Mathews was injuring during a single run on the first day of the ongoing Test in Galle. He has retired hurt soon after, but returned to the crease with the fall of the eighth wicket. And hit a substantial boundary, refusing to take a run.

The Batted At Number Nine :-

He did not take the field for Sri Lanka in the first innings but came out to bat at number nine in the second innings.

Mathews has a long history of leg injuries, with difficulty in his hamstrings, quads, and calves causing him to miss months of cricket at a time since 2015.

He is expecting to be part of the Colombo Stars franchise in the LPL – possibly as captain, although this has yet to be officially endorsed.
