Anissa Mohammad will be captain of the series in place of Taylor.

Veteran off-spinner Anissa Mohamed will serve as the interim captain for the series in place of star captain Stephanie Taylor.

West Indies team without Taylor will play women’s T20 series against South Africa on Tuesday.

Taylor was kicked out of the series after being the primary contact of a COVID-19 positive case in Jamaica. Forcing her into a period of isolation.

While Taylor’s absence will be felt, chief selector Ann Brown-John is confident the team can move on.

“It is unfortunate that Stephanie will not be available for this series. But there are many experienced players that we would like to fill in any gaps,” Brown-John said. “Younger Kiana Joseph brings in the option of another left-handed batsman as well as the conservative left-arm bowling that the team has been lacking in. This will be a good test coming out of the Pakistan series. Recently as South Africa is one of the high-ranked teams.

This will be West Indies’ first series after defeating Pakistan in ODI and T20I campaigns in July.

The three T20Is will take place at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground (SVRCG) before the five-match ODI series begins on 7 September at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG).
