Ashes 2023, wrong decisions: The Ashes Series 2023 between England and Australia (England vs Australia) has started from 16 June. On the first day of the first Test match, England declared the first innings by scoring 393 runs for 8 wickets. Joe Root played a century. Zak Crawley played a half-century innings. However, poor umpiring was also witnessed on the first day.

Bad umpiring was seen in the first day :-

The first Test match of the five-match Test series is being played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The first day’s play saw poor umpiring during England’s first innings. The decisions of the on-field umpire came under question twice in the first session and the decision was overturned by the third umpire. The first case was seen in the 18th over. After this Australia captain Pat Cummins took DRS. The third umpire saw in replays that Pope was in front of the wicket. After this the on-field umpire had to change his decision. The second case was seen towards the end of the first session. The keeper appealed for a catch against Zak Crawley, the Australian players started celebrating as the pace came, but the umpire did not give out.

Australia made proper use of DRS :-

Pat Cummins then used DRS. Replays clearly showed that the ball hit the batsman’s thumb and hit the keeper’s gloves. This time Marais Erasmus of South Africa had to change his decision. Earlier, Jack Crawley was dismissed by Boland, but Australia did not take a review.
