Asia Cup 2022: New captain to lead Bangladesh for Asia Cup and T20 World Cup Bangladesh announced a 17-man squad for the Asia Cup starting later this month, along with the tournament later this year- Also announced his captain for T20 World Cup.

Hasan returns as captain of the Bangladesh T20 team:-

Shakib Al Hasan is returning as the captain of the Bangladesh T20 team and has been named captain at least until the T20 World Cup later this year.

His first assignment in his new stint as captain begins with the Asia Cup beginning on August 27.

Nurul Hasan was recently named captain for the Zimbabwe tour after Mahmood Ullah was dropped as captain due to a lack of results.

However, Shakib Al Hasan – who had already been named Test captain after Mominul Haque stepped down.

Ready to take the reins of the team for the Asia Cup:-

The team is set to take the reins for the upcoming Asia Cup, the tri-series in New Zealand that also includes Pakistan, and the T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh has also named the team for the T20 Asia Cup. Liton Das was the most notable omission, due to which he was ruled out of the tournament.

But the return of key players including skipper Shakib, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Ebadat Hossain, and Mohammad Saifuddin will give a boost to the team.

Saifuddin’s return to the Bangladesh team after a nearly 10-month absence, he last participated in the T20 World Cup last year for the Tigers.

Out due to a back injury:-

Where his tournament was cut short after being ruled out due to a back injury. The out-of-favour Rahman also finds a place in the squad, who last appeared for Bangladesh in the shortest format in 2019.

Bangladesh found itself in Group B in the Asia Cup played against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Their campaign begins with a game against Afghanistan on 30 August, before they take on the Islanders on 1 September.
