Asia Cup 2022, Shaheen Afridi: Before the upcoming Asia Cup, Pakistan’s team has suffered a major setback in the form of fast bowler Shaheen Afridi. The left-arm fast bowler has been ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical team said on Saturday that he needed to take four to six more weeks of rest. Shaheen Afridi had injured his right knee during the Test against Sri Lanka in Galle last month. India and Pakistan will face on August 28 during the Asia Cup to be held in Dubai.

Shaheen Afridi will complete his rehabilitation in UAE :-

Shaheen Afridi will travel with Pakistan’s Asia Cup team and complete his rehabilitation in the UAE. However, the team doctor has advised that Afridi will not be able to return before the beginning of October. Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq has now said that losing a player like Shaheen Afridi is a big blow to him and his team.

Mushtaq said in a conversation with PTI, “Obviously losing Shaheen before the tournament and for the England series is a big blow for us, because he is someone who has proved himself at the top level and against the best batsmen. Well done.” Mohammad Hasnain has been included in the Pakistan squad for the Asia Cup in place of Shaheen Afridi.

Mushtaq said, “It is never easy to replace a player like Shaheen because of his quality, but we are supporting him with the resources we have.”

Mohammad Hasnain included in Pakistani squad as a replacement for Afridi :-

The Pakistan Cricket Board has included Mohammad Hasnain in the Pakistani squad as a replacement for Afridi. The PCB gave this information on Monday. The Asia Cup is to be played from August 27 to September 11.

22-year-old Hasnain has taken 17 wickets while playing for Pakistan in 18 T20 Internationals. Hasnain is currently part of the Oval Invincible team at The Hundred. Hwill return from the UK to join the team.
