Asia Cup 2022: The Sri Lanka Cricket Board Officials not Getting Permission To Visit UAE, less than two weeks are left for the Asia Cup. But before that Sri Lanka’s hosting rights are under threat.
In fact, the Asian Cricket Council had decided to move the tournament out of Sri Lanka due to political unrest in the country.

But the Sri Lankan government is not happy with the decision as they feel that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) did not do enough to keep the tournament afloat.
This is the reason why the government has not even allowed the organizing committee members to travel to the UAE and announce the team.
According to the Sunday Times Sri Lanka report, an opposition MP questioned the decision to move the Asia Cup 2022 out of Sri Lanka.
Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe and National Sports Council President Arjun Ranatunga supported this position. He said the SLC didn’t “lobby enough” to host.
However, SLC secretary Mohan de Silva later criticized the questions. And saying that it was a frivolous allegation aiming at maligning the image of SLC.
SLC secretary Mohan de Silva said, “These are baseless allegations of maligning the institution with malafide intentions. It is very unfortunate to see the responsible people representing the people of our country talking without verifying the facts and misleading the general public.”
Asia Cup 2022: However, an angry Sri Lankan government writes to ACC secretary Jay Shah, asking why the tournament was shifting.
Shah then replied to the email explaining the situation and official broadcaster Star Sports’ reservation.
“Unfortunately, the situation in Sri Lanka is not conducive for such. An important multi-team tournament to gain the confidence of key stakeholders of the ACC”. ACC President Jay Shah wrote to SLC chief Shammi Silva.

SLC is yet to announce the squad for the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka will face Afghanistan in the first match on 27 August.
But despite crossing the deadline on August 8, no announcement has been made. According to reports, the Sri Lankan Sports Ministry has not sanctioned the team.
