Asia Cup 2023 Jay Shah Pakistan Invitation: Just two weeks ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf on Friday invited BCCI secretary Jay Shah to watch the tournament’s opening match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan on August 30.

Several other board chiefs associated with the Asian Cricket Council were also invited for the opening match.

The PCB said that apart from Shah, it has also invited several other board chiefs associated with the Asian Cricket Council for the opening match. A PCB source said an invitation has been sent to Shah but the chances of him coming to Pakistan are little chance.

Jai Shah was also verbally invited

“The invitation was verbally extended to Jay Shah by PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf in Durban during the ICC meeting,” the source said. The board has now sent a formal invitation.”

According to Pakistani media, Shah has accepted PCB’s invitation, but the BCCI secretary denied the claim.

A source familiar with the current relations between India and Pakistan said that by inviting Shah. The PCB wanted to show that it does not mix sports with politics.

Pakistani media had earlier reported that Shah has accepted PCB’s invitation, but the BCCI secretary rejected the claim. After it was reported in the Pakistani media that Jay Shah had accepted Zaka Ashraf’s invitation. Now the PCB was clearly embarrassed and the Indian board official later flatly denied it.

The Asia Cup will be held from August 30 to September 17 at venues in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. (PTI)
