Asia Cup 2023: PCB chief Najam Sethi gave this statement regarding the Indian team

Najam Sethi, Indian team: Putting an end to months of speculations and if-buts, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the conduct of the Asia Cup. The six-team tournament will feature four matches in hosts Pakistan and nine matches in Sri Lanka. The tournament will begin on August 31 in the 50-over format, while the final will be played on 17 September. However, the detailed schedule has not been announced yet.

Najam Sethi said, “Our fans would have loved to see the Indian cricket team playing in Pakistan for the first time in 15 years, but we understand the position of the BCCI. Like the Pakistan Cricket Board, the BCCI also has to take permission from the government to cross the border.

Six teams will be divided into two groups :-

All the six teams will be divided into two groups. The top two teams from both the groups will qualify for the Super Four round. After that the top two teams out of four teams will play in the final, which will be played either in Kandy or Pallekele, Sri Lanka. India, Pakistan and Nepal will be in one group. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be in the other group.

The way for Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup is also clear: –

The approval of the Asia Cup schedule means that the Pakistan team will tour India in the ODI World Cup to be held in October-November this year. India’s World Cup clash with the arch-rivals scheduled to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It is the world’s largest cricket stadium.
