AUS vs ENG: Jofra Archer Expresses Grief After being Ruled Out of Ashes

England pacer Jofra Archer has expressed grief over being ruled out of the 2021/22 Ashes due to injury, saying the tour of Australia is something a fast bowler would never want to miss. Jofra Archer has been away from cricket since August this year due to injury. “It was hard to see the ball seam and bounce a bit, because it’s really a fast bowler tour that you don’t want to miss,” Archer said in a conversation with Channel Seven.

The ongoing Test at the Gabba, the first Ashes Test since the Boxing Day Test in 2006, did not feature either Anderson or Broad in England’s playing XI.

Australia captain Pat Cummins took the England team’s five-wicket haul on the first day of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba here on Wednesday. In the very first over, Cummins dismissed Steve Smith at second slip by Haseeb Hameed. Jos Buttler hit some fine boundaries with Ollie Pope, as the duo put on a 52-run stand for the sixth wicket. But it did not last long, as Butler caught Alex Carey in Mitchell Starc’s over. Three overs later, Pope was dismissed in an over by Cameron Greene and it was Green’s first Test wicket.

Team captain Pat Cummins took five wickets for England while bowling aggressively. Starc took two wickets. Josh also took two wickets and Green took one. All the bowlers performed well and sent the opposing team back quickly.
