AUS vs PAK, Test: The last match of the three-Test series between Australia and Pakistan is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. On the first day of the match, Pakistan has made such a shameful record in its name which no one has been able to do till date in the 147 years of the history of Test cricket.
This happened for the first time in 147 years of cricket history:-
In the Sydney Test, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, both the opening batsmen of the visiting team – Abdullah Shafiq and Saim Ayyub – returned to the pavilion without opening their account. This is the first time in the history of Test cricket that a calendar year has started with both the openers being out on ducks. Yes, this has not happened before till date.
Talking about the wickets of Abdullah Shafiq and Saim Ayub, Mitchell Starc made Abdullah Shafiq his victim on the very second ball of the match. While trying to drive the ball outside the off stump, Shafiq was caught by Steve Smith at second slip and returned to the pavilion after playing 2 balls.
Debutant Saim Ayub was out like this :-
After this, debutant Saim Ayyub was next to be dismissed. Josh Hazlewood also took his first victim on the second ball. The ball lying on the middle and leg stump was going outside. Ayyub had no chance to leave the ball, the ball took the outside edge of his bat and went into the gloves of wicketkeeper Alex Carey. In this way, Pakistan lost both its opening batsmen in the first two overs.
