AUS vs PAK: ‘Usman Khawaja’ gives befitting reply to ICC on ban on ‘Gaza’ message

Usman Khawaja, ‘Gaza’ message: Australia batsman Usman Khawaja issued an emotional statement after the International Cricket Council (ICC) refused to allow him to write any message on his shoes during the Test match against Pakistan on December 14.

Khawaja wanted to express his support towards the people of ‘Gaza’:-

After an embarrassing campaign in the World Cup 2023, Asian giants Pakistan are touring Australia for a bilateral Test series. Born in Islamabad, Pakistan, Australian batsman Khawaja wanted to express his support towards the people of ‘Gaza’ during the Pakistan Test series.

Actually this is the whole matter :-

In fact, while preparing for the first Test against Pakistan, Australian batsman Khawaja had the messages “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal” imprinted on his shoes in the colors of the Palestinian flag during a pre-match training session in Perth.

According to initial media reports, Khawaja was expected to wear the same shoes in the opening match of the Test series against Pakistan at the Perth Stadium on 13 December. However, Australia captain Pat Cummins said that Khawaja had agreed not to display any messages during the Pakistan Test match.

Usman Khawaja posted a video on X :-

After ICC denied permission, Khawaja posted a video on X and shared his views. He said,

“Isn’t freedom for all? Isn’t life equal for all? For me personally, it doesn’t matter what race, religion or culture you belong to. I’m just speaking for those who have No sound. I was told I couldn’t wear my shoes on the field because they believed it was a political statement within their guidelines.

He added, “I don’t believe that’s the case – it’s a humanitarian appeal. I will respect the ICC’s view and decision but I will fight against it and try to get a sanction.”
