AUS vs WI, ODI: Australia announced squad for ODI series against West Indies

AUS vs WI, ODI: Cricket Australia has announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies on Monday, January 22. For the first time, two uncapped players have been selected in this 13-member squad led by Steve Smith.

After performing well in the ongoing Big Bash League in Australia, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Xavier Bartlett have got a place in the international team for the first time. Whereas senior players like Glenn Maxwell and Jhay Richardson have not been able to make a place in the squad.

Due to this, Maxwell and Richardson were out :-

Maxwell has been ‘managed’ by Australia after the BBL season with Melbourne Stars, but is expected to feature in the upcoming T20I series against the Windies from February 9. While playing for Perth Scorchers last month, Richardson suffered an injury on his left side, due to which he has not been selected for this series.

The first match of the series will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground :-

The ODI series between Australia and West Indies is going to start from 2 February. The first match of the series will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The other two matches will be held at SCG on 4 February and Canberra on 6 February.

In this series against West Indies, Steve Smith’s deputy will be Travis Head, who played an important role in Australia winning the World Cup 2023 title. Senior bowlers like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood have been rested from this series.
