Australia captain Aaron Finch has been given a 70% chance of playing against Afghanistan on Friday night. But Finch is unconvinced that if he is not fit, then he will not compromise with the team in any way. Even if it means that he has played his last international match. Did not qualify for the semi-finals.

Both Finch and Tim David have suffered hamstring injuries

Both Finch and Tim David have suffered hamstring injuries. Which he had during Australia’s victory in Ireland. Australia will have to win their clash with Afghanistan in Adelaide on Friday night. And to have any chance of playing in the semi-finals one has to achieve a huge increase in the net run rate. Whereas their fate can be decided by the match between England-Sri Lanka on Saturday.

The signs for Finch did not look more promising based on Australia’s training session. Where he did some running but did not bat. He was seen in conversation with Matthew Wade who can captain in his absence.

“I’m probably 70-30,” Finch said before training on Thursday

“I’m probably 70-30,” Finch said before training on Thursday. “But I’ll test it properly this afternoon to make sure I’m not hindering me at all to be leading the game. It’s a worst-case scenario, to leave you guys out there with one player less “

Finch has already retired from ODI cricket and is indicating this tournament to be his last in T20I cricket. But emotion will have no role in their decision-making.

“It won’t make it a little harder,” Finch said. “If I think it will compromise the performance of the 1% side then I will not play.

If I don’t feel confident in my hamstrings, I won’t play

“If I don’t feel confident in my hamstrings, I won’t play and maybe the first attempt I try today may be the last, feel any pain or something like that then I win don’t play.”

Finch confirmed that David would face the same fitness test on his hamstrings during training as he batted in the nets.

“I think the scan results showed very similar,” Finch said. “He’s in exactly the same boat, he’ll get the job today.
