Australia overtook India and New Zealand to become No. 1

After winning the Ashes, Australia overtook India and New Zealand to become No. 1 in the ICC Test Rankings. South Africa has moved up a place to fifth place after beating India. New Zealand retains a second place.

Australia is again the world’s No.1 Test team after the 4-0 #Ashes win saw them rise to the top of the ICC rankings, while Travis Head makes it three Aussies in the top six batters.

Australia overtook India and New Zealand to take the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings after winning the Ashes 4-0 at home to push India to third place. South Africa’s 2–1 win over India at home saw them move up one place to fifth, while New Zealand retained their second place.

Australia defeated England in the Ashes with a nine-wicket win in Brisbane. Then registered a 275-run victory in the day-night Test in Adelaide. And then they sealed the series at the MCG in just three days, claiming a win by an innings and 14 runs in the Boxing Day Test. Australia continued their dominance in Hobart as well, with England playing a thrilling final over draw in Sydney.

New Zealand, the inaugural WTC winners, finished second after their 1–1 draw series at home against Bangladesh, which included the hosts’ first loss in all formats to Bangladesh.

Pakistan slipped one place to sixth, while Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Ireland retained their positions.
