Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne is going back to Glamorgan for the 2024 county season, extending his deal with the county until at least the end of 2024 after Marnus Labuschagne has committed to Glamorgan for the next two seasons.
Before traveling to Sri Lanka for a Test tour of Australia in July, Labuschagne, currently the ICC’s No. 2 ranked Test batsman, scored 377 runs at 41.88 in five opening season championship matches for Glamorgan this season, including against Derbyshire. Contains the best of 130.

His time at the club, however, was certainly crucial in kickstarting his Test career, given the form he brought with him in the 2019 Ashes, when he made history at Lord’s as the first concussion substitute in Test history.
Labuschagne scored 1,114 first-class runs in just 10 appearances for Glamorgan in that first season for the club, and replaced Steve Smith in the middle of the Lord’s Test, after his teammate hit Jofra Archer on the head, at the same time. Went into the vein.
He scored 59 in that first innings, the first of four consecutive half-centuries, then scored a career-best 215 against New Zealand in Sydney, with four scores of over 143 in five Tests at home.
He has since scored 2,539 runs in 28 Tests at 54.02 and rose to No. 1 in the ICC rankings in December 2021.
Labuschagne missed the 2020 county season due to the pandemic, but returned in 2021 and 2022, scoring 1,719 runs in 21 first-class matches for the club, in addition to 508 T20 runs in 14 games. He has also taken 31 first-class wickets with his leg-spin at an average of 36.70.
“I love playing for Glamorgan, and look forward to coming to Cardiff and Wales every year,” Labuschagne said. “It has become a second home for me and my family and I am glad to be back for another two years.
“Ever since I moved here, Glamorgan players, staff, and supporters have treated me like I am one of them and I am very grateful for that.
I can’t wait to return to Wales and help grow the team. To win more silverware.”
Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “Marnus has been a wonderful addition to the dressing room, and to be able to bring world-class talent back to Glamorgan is amazing.
“His passion and love for the sport are infectious and you only need to be around him for a few minutes to realize how much the club and supporters mean to him.
