Australia’s Will Pucovski is set to return to first-class cricket after being named in Victoria’s Sheffield Shield squad to face South Australia at the Adelaide Oval on 9 February.
The End of Season Surgery :-
Will Pucovski has not played first-class cricket since his Test arrival in Sydney in January 2020. He scored 62 and 10 in that match but dislocated his shoulder on the field and was expected to undergo season-end surgery.

He suffered the 10th injury of his career while batting in the nets in October as he prepared for his comeback at the start of the new session.
His recovery took longer than necessary due to his injury history and he was unable to play any cricket before Christmas.
The 24-year-old finally returned to Victoria Premier Cricket for Melbourne on 7 January for his club. He has played two matches of 50 overs and one T20 match for scores of 40, 8, and 32.
Melbourne’s most recent match against Carlton is the last. The game was abandoned on Saturday without a single ball being bowled.
The Victoria’s clash with South Australia :-
Pukowski had said before returning to club cricket that he wanted to get a spot on the upcoming Test tour of Pakistan. But Victoria’s clash with South Australia is the only match that members of Australia’s Test team will play before leaving for the subcontinent.
Victoria’s four Shield matches and four 50-over Marsh Cup games are certain to conclude the home season after the revised fixtures are released on Friday, with possibly two finals if they qualify.
It seems more likely that Australia selectors will allow Will Pucovski to stay in Australia to play as much cricket as possible, as he has missed the last 12 months.
