Australia’s hero in the second Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval, Marnus Labuschagne, and Pakistan captain Babar Azam has risen to the top in the ICC rankings for batsmen in Tests and T20Is respectively.
In the latest player rankings for T20Is, Pakistan captain Babar Azam topped the batsmen’s list just a week after the loss.
With scores of 0 and 7 in the first two T20 Internationals against the West Indies. Which the market dropped two places to number three in last week’s ranking update.

He came back roaring and now tops the rankings. With England’s David Malan after an impressive 79 in the last T20I, which helped Pakistan clean sweep the West Indies.
His fellow opener Mohammad Rizwan, who has had a fruitless 2021 run, ended the year climbing to No. 3 in the T20I batsmen’s rankings with a career-best rating of 798.
Rizwan was the ‘Player of the Match’ in the last T20I against West. Indies helped their team chase 208 runs in less than 19 overs, scoring 87 runs in 45 balls.
Meanwhile, Australia’s middle-order batsman Labuschagne has risen to the top of the ICC Test Player Rankings for batsmen for the first time. which is in addition to his sensational performances in two Ashes matches so far.
With a career-high 912 rating points, he has moved past England captain Joe Root (897) to the second spot.
Labuschagne, who finished fourth before the series, has moved up two places to second after scoring 74 in Australia’s win in the Brisbane Test.
In the second Test in Adelaide, he scored a century (103 and 51) as Australia beat England by 275 runs to take a 2–0 Ashes lead.
His teammate Mitchell Starc broke into the top-10 for Test bowlers in addition to returning figures of 6/80 in the second Test. Which included a boundary in the first innings that helped reduce England to 236. He has reached ninth place.
Starc did enough work with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 39 and 19 in both the innings, to move him up to No. 6 in the rankings for Test all-rounders.

For England, captain Joe Root achieved his career-best rating in the all-rounders’ rankings, scoring 86 runs in the second Test and taking three wickets to move up two places to No. 10.
