Batter Ducked for the Second time in IPL History, Returned Without Opening an Account, this Happened for the first time in last 7 Years

New Delhi. Flamboyant Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler made a duck after seven years in a high voltage encounter against Gujarat Titans. In the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), a match was played between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans on Sunday, 16 April. In this match, Rajasthan won by 3 wickets. During the match, Mohammad Shami returned Jos Buttler to the pavilion without opening an account. With this, Butler got duck out in IPL for the second time in seven years.

Chasing 178 runs, Rajasthan Royals Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the pavilion in the second over. On the catch of Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill took an easy catch of Jaiwal. But when the team’s star Jos Buttler got out without opening the account, then the difficulty increased for the team. This was the fifth ball of the third over. Butler tried to play a ramp shot. He exposed all the three stumps. In such a situation, Mohammed Shami did not waste this golden chance and hit the off stump, which flew in the air.

This was Jos Buttler’s second duck in IPL history. Earlier, Jos Buttler made a duck in his debut match against Rising Super Giants. Then Butler was playing for Mumbai Indians and came to bat at number 4. Mitchell Marsh was bowling during that time. In this match too, Butler failed to open his account. After this, it took seven years for any bowler to duck out Jos Buttler in IPL.

Let us tell you that on the basis of half-century innings of captain Sanju Samson (60) and Shimron Hetmyer (56 not out), Rajasthan Royals defeated Gujarat Titans by three wickets in the match played on Sunday after a very poor start. Rajasthan won the match by scoring 179 runs in seven wickets in 19.2 overs after stopping Gujarat at 177 runs for 7 wickets. This is Rajasthan’s first win against Gujarat in four matches. At the same time, this is Rajasthan’s fourth win in five matches and the team has reached the top of the points table. Gujarat is in third place with three wins in the same number of matches.
