BCB has Finalized Six Franchises For BPL

The Governing Council of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League has finalized six franchises for the eighth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, signs BCB endorsed by Cricbuzz on Sunday (December 12).

A Three Former Franchises in the Tournament :-

BCB had earlier said that they had received eight expressions of interest. Three new business houses are expecting to participate in the tournament along with three former franchises. It is learning that the new business houses will be Roopa & Marn Group (Dhaka Division), Progotty Group (Sylhet Division), and Mindtree (Khulna Division).

Fortune Group and Akhtar Group, which had dominated the Barisal Division and Chattogram Division respectively in the previous edition, have acquired the rights to those two franchises. Meanwhile, two-time champions Comilla Victorians, dominated by Lotus Group, will return to this season’s BPL. He did not participate in the previous edition of the tournament.

A Long Term Agreement :-

Incidentally, BCB decided to give the franchise only a one-year deal as they are expecting to sign a long-term deal in addition to this season. As a result, certain franchises such as Dhaka Dynamites (Beximco), Rangpur Riders (Basundhara), and Khulna Titans (Gemcon Group) opted out of this season’s tournament.

“In the previous edition. There was a provision to play four overseas players. whereas this edition will see three players for each franchise. The draft date is yet to be finalized and we will be more organized once it is finalized.

The players’ format of the PSL is happening today, and with its completion, we can get a clearer picture of the returns of overseas players in the competition and tell you who we are going to support,” added Gone.

The Struggle With PSL :-

The BPL is expecting to be staging from January 20 to February 20. However, as things stand, it is dueling with the PSL, which is scheduling to begin on January 27. Sheikh Sohail A member of the BPL governing council said. That they are not worrying about the duel of the tournament.

He said that he is concerned about the ever-evolving COVID-19 situation. “We are not worried about the PSL and we are looking forward to hosting this month’s players spec. But the only thing that bothers us is the corona situation.”
