Shah said IPL aspirational price tag exceeds everyone’s expectations

Shah said that the aspirational price of IPL has exceeded everyone’s expectations. He declined to discuss any amount, but said any amount would affect the development of the league. Shah said the BCCI will float tenders for the league’s media rights for the 2023-27 cycle early next week and complete the e-auction in two months. It is expected that this will give 500 billion rupees.

He said the board has studied various proposals and will also consider separate TV and digital bids. This means that Amazon.com Inc. and Reliance Industries Ltd. will compete with Sony Group Corp and The Walt Disney Company for rights to TV and digital broadcasts. The record amount for the rights could go up to Rs 500 billion. Disney-owned Star India is one of the top broadcasters in India. It and Sony have paid Rs 163.48 billion for digital and television rights by 2022.
