South African Paddy Upton has been appointed as the mental conditioning coach. And he joined up with the India squad in Trinidad on Monday, 25 July.

Paddy Upton joins coach Rahul Dravid’s support staff-
Former India assistant coach joins coach Rahul Dravid’s support staff as the mental conditioning coach in the lead-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup later this year in Australia.

India became the No.1-ranked Test team for the first time-
Upton previously worked with the Indian cricket team between 2008 and 2011 as an assistant coach under Gary Kirsten. During this time India became the No.1-ranked Test team for the first time and also famously won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 on home soil.
Dravid recommended Upton’s appointment-
According to reports, Dravid recommended Upton’s appointment. The duo has worked together in the Indian Premier League with Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
Upton has traveled across the world and has been part of multiple T20 franchises as head coach. He was ‘Team Catalyst’ at Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. There his role also included the mental conditioning of players inside the bio-bubble.
