BCCI: Star India got exemption, BCCI waived so much money from media rights agreement

BCCI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to drop one match from its Media Rights Agreement (MRA) with Star India from 2018 to 2023, giving Star a rebate of Rs 78.90 crore.

BCCI’s 5-year agreement with S.India: –

BCCI’s media rights agreement with Star India was from 2018 to 2023 which expired on March 31.

During this period Rs 6138.1 crore was signed for 102 matches. But BCCI played 103 matches in a cycle of five years.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India said in the statement:-

“It has been decided to award one match to Star India Pvt Ltd in accordance with the BCCI and Star Media Rights Agreement signed on 5th April, 2018 for BCCI international and domestic matches,” a BCCI statement said. The total number of matches has been reduced from 103 to 102 during this period.
