Yorkshire Development of Shan Masood and Ben Mike:-

Pakistan opener Shan Masood has been confirmed as Yorkshire’s new overseas signing. Yorkshire have caught two very exciting cricketers at different stages of their career development in Shan Masood and Ben Mike.

The 32-year-old has been a revelation for Derbyshire this summer, scoring 1,779 runs in all competitions so far.

But as revealed by ESPNcricinfo, the temptation and prestige of joining Yorkshire was a big incentive for the player.

Masood said, ‘I am happy to have signed for Yorkshire. “Yorkshire CCC has a huge pedigree and history and it is a dream to play at Headingley Week In Week Out.

Three Captains of Pakistan:-

It is really exciting to follow in the footsteps of three Pakistan captains (Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, and Sarfaraz Ahmed) representing Yorkshire.

“I look forward to sharing the dressing room with the really talented players, including current England players like Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, David Malan, and Harry Brooke.

“I look forward to working with Ottis Gibson again, after working closely with him in the PSL (Pakistan Super League) this year.

Masood played most of his 25 Test matches in January 2021, but is committed to a recall to Pakistan, and believes the allure of Division One cricket in Yorkshire will help him fulfill that ambition.

Yorkshire has also announced the signing of Leicestershire all-rounder Ben Mike on a three-year deal. The 23-year-old has taken 79 first-class and 40 white-ball wickets in his career so far.

As well as taking 1,944 runs, last season pulled off a thrilling last-ball six against Yorkshire in the T20 Blast.

“I am excited to sign for a club as prestigious as Yorkshire CCC. And I will wear the white rose with pride,” Mike said.

“Shaan is a world-class batsman who will contribute across formats for us. He is a great senior player and we have seen from his performances with Derbyshire this year that he has a lot of runs to score in county cricket.
