In the T20 World Cup being played in Australia, just before the start of the Super-12 stage, players of many teams have become victims of injuries. One player each from Australia, England and Sri Lanka has been injured during the practice session, which has dealt a big blow to their preparations. Australia’s Josh Inglis sustained a hand injury while playing golf. Sri Lanka’s Dusmantha Chameera suffered an ankle injury and Danushka Gunathilaka suffered a hamstring injury. While England’s Reece Topley suffered a torn ankle ligament after her foot was caught on the boundary rope.

Ben Stokes was angry about the boundary rope, said-

During the match between UAE and Netherlands in the qualifying round of T20 World Cup. UAE’s Ayan Afzal Khan’s leg also got stuck in the boundary rope, after which he fell. Questions were raised after the batsman’s leg got stuck in the rope and then Topley was ruled out of the tournament due to this reason, after which many questions came to the fore regarding the size of the boundary rope. While England all-rounder Ben Stokes looked a little more angry than this.

Speaking to The Cricketer, Stokes said, “It’s stupid. It should be looked into. It’s a shocker for them. Unfortunately because of this one of our players got ruled out of the World Cup. I’m pretty sure that’s it.” It’s something they can see but you know how it is, everybody wants to put their name somewhere.”

Ben Stokes further said-

“But you look at the safety of the player and the fact is he stood on it and he damaged the ligament and is now out of the World Cup. We are all totally disappointed for him that he has missed this World Cup. His name would have been at the top of the team sheet, I am sure he has been performing as well. So, I am upset for him.”
