Sri Lankan batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa has withdrawn his decision to retire from international cricket, the Sri Lankan board has released.

Rajapaksa Takes Family Responsibility :-

Exactly a week ago on 3 January, Rajapaksa announced his decision to retire from international cricket with sudden effect, citing family responsibility.

In his retirement letter, Bhanuka Rajapakse wrote: “I have very carefully considered my position as a sportsperson, husband and take this decision in view of paternity and the associated family responsibility.”

However, a release from the SLC on Thursday (13 January) said: “After a meeting with the Hon’ble Namal Rajapakse – Minister of Youth and Sports and in addition to holding opinions with the national selectors.

The Released To SLC :-

Bhanuka Rajapakse has informed the SLC that he wants to withdraw his name. A resignation which he gave to SLC with sudden effect on 3rd January 2022.

“In his letter to the SLC withdrawing his resignation. He further stated that he wants to guide his country in the sport he loves for years to come.”

Rajapaksa has featured in 5 ODIs and 18 T20Is. Scoring a total of 409 runs in all formats including 3 fifties.

A Thought Very Carefully :-

A week ago, Rajapaksa gave his retirement letter, saying he had considered his position as a player. Husband very carefully. And was taking the decision considering paternity and the associated family responsibility.

But today it is announced that he has withdrawn his decision of retirement. After a meeting with him by the Minister of Youth and Sports and consultation with the national selectors.

He said in his retirement letter that he wants to lead his country in the sport he loves for years to come. ,
