Big blow to Bangladesh, Tamim and Taskin ruled out of ODI series

Bangladesh suffered a major blow ahead of the three-match ODI series against India after skipper Tamim Iqbal was ruled out of the series. It is also doubtful for this senior batsman to play in the first test.

Bangladesh dealt a blow in the pace department after Taskin Ahmed was ruled out of the first match of the series

Tamim suffered a groin injury on November 30 during a warm-up match. At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium and has now been advised rest for two weeks. While the ODI series ends on December 10, the first Test begins on December 14 and as a result, Tamim faces a race against time to make it to that game.

Bangladesh have also suffered a setback in the fast bowling department after Taskin Ahmed was ruled out of the first match of the series. The Bangladesh pacer was expected to lead the home team’s pace attack considering the form he has been carrying. For now, Shoriful Islam has been called into the ODI squad as a back-up.

BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin said –

“Taskin has been ruled out of the first ODI due to recurring back pain.”

“We will be watching their progress before taking further decisions regarding their participation,” he added.
