Star fast bowler Mohammed Shami has become a contender for the main team in the T20 World Cup, as pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming tournament due to a back injury, so the Indian team management is trying to bet on Shami. However, before the recently concluded series against Australia, Shami was found to be Kovid positive and he could not recover till the series against South Africa.
Star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami will undergo a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru this week. After that, he will join the squad going to Australia.
Mohammed Shami last appeared in a competitive match against England at Old Trafford on 17 July. Shami, who has played 17 matches for India, has recovered from the virus and was seen doing bowling practice. A few days back, he shared a video on Instagram while bowling at his farmhouse. The Indian team does not want to rush about Shami’s return, so he is being sent straight to Australia to keep him fresh, where he will shine in the practice matches.
