Bishnoi got a chance, Kuldeep Yadav and Deepak Hooda return to the Indian team

New Delhi, Jan 26 (PTI) Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Pacer Harshal Patel and all-rounder Deepak Hooda were on Wednesday named in the Rohit Sharma-led Indian squad for the upcoming limited-overs series against West Indies. While wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav returned to the ODI team after a knee operation.

The Senior Selection Committee of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) has selected an 18-member squad for the ODI and T20I series against West Indies. The three-match ODI series will be played in Ahmedabad from October 6 while the T20 series will be played in Kolkata from February 16.

Rohit Sharma, who missed the South African tour due to injury, will lead the team. Former captain Virat Kohli kept in both the teams.

Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami rested. While Ravindra Jadeja is still not fully fit and hence has not been picked.

“Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami rested while KL Rahul will be available from the second ODI only. The BCCI said in a statement issued here. Jadeja is in the final stages of recovery from a knee injury and will miss the series.

Deepak Hooda has been kept in the team

All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer not selected in the ODI squad due to his poor performance in South Africa. All-rounder Deepak Hooda kept in his place in the team. Venkatesh, however, has been kept in the T20 squad.

Washington Sundar has also returned to both the squads after recovering from injury. While Axar Patel will be available for the T20I series.

Bishnoi, Harshal Patel and Deepak Hooda are the find of the Indian Premier League. He performed very well for his team. Bishnoi will play for the new franchise Lucknow Supergiants in the next IPL. Bishnoi selected in both the teams.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar retained in the T20 squad

In the era of Kohli and Ravi Shastri, Kuldeep not given special priority. But now he can become the trump card in the team. Kuldeep had a knee operation last year.

The first three ODIs against West Indies will be on February 6, 9 and 11. While the T20 matches will be on February 16, 18 and 20. Due to the Kovid protocol, this series will be played in only two cities.
