Brian Lara Joins SRH’s New Support Staff

West Indies batting great Brian Lara has been roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad as the strategy consultant and batting coach of the franchise. Brian Lara has joined SRH’s new support staff.

The Dual Role of Scout :-

In which former India cricketer Hemang Badani will be including in the dual role of fielding coach and scout. And as reported on December 16, Dale Steyn will join the franchise as the team’s bowling coach.

In addition to Dale Steyn, Brian Lara, and Badani, the Hyderabad franchise has also roped in Simon Katich as an assistant coach.

The former Australia batsman recently served as the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore before pulling out of the UAE leg of IPL 2021 due to personal reasons. Katich, 46, replaced compatriot Brad Haddin, who was the franchise’s assistant coach.

The sweeping changes to the backroom staff at SRH come in the wake of a disappointing 2021 season in which the team had previously finished at the bottom of the standings in addition to making the playoffs in each of the five seasons. Thereafter, the franchise parted ways with head coach Trevor Bayliss, who has been replaced by Tom Moody.

VVS Laxman had to step down after joining the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. However, the 2016 Champions have retained Muttiah Muralitharan in their support staff. The Sri Lankan legend, who was acting as a mentor to the franchise till now, has been named as the tactic and spin bowling coach.

The Expected to Get CVC Recognition :-

Meanwhile, as reporting by this website. CVC Sports is expecting to get full recognition from BCCI soon. The approach in IPL is that the matter has been settled and the franchise agreement is just waiting to be signed between the MLA (BCCI) and the stakeholder (CVC).

Those with knowledge of developments said things would move forward after the board receives the signed papers of an external committee set up to oversee the business of the US venture capital firm. The oral approval is believed to have been given by the panel, which featured a retired Supreme Court judge.

Ahmedabad Team Support Staff :-

Cricbuzz also understands that Gary Kirsten, the coach of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning coach, is in the running to be part of the Ahmedabad team’s support staff, as is former India bowler Ashish Nehra, who was part of it. All-Winning Indian Team of 2011.

Former England batsman Vikram Solanki may also join his coaching staff. The CVC had earlier interacted with the recent Indian coaches – Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun, and R Sridhar. A final decision is expected after the US investment firm signs on the dotted lines.
