Bumrah Will have to Follow this Veteran’s Advice, this is the Only Way to Return to Team India

Team India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been battling with his injuries for some time now. Bumrah has been out of the team for several months and has had to miss several big tournaments and series due to his injury. Bumrah even ruled out of this year’s IPL. Now a former player has told Bumrah a good way to deal with these injuries.

How Can Bumrah Overcome Injuries?

Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop, who battled back injuries throughout his cricketing career, believes that Jasprit Bumrah can no longer modify his action and should play in select tournaments to avoid injuries. Bumrah has not played any matches since September last year due to back pain and he is also a doubt to play in the ODI World Cup to be held in India in October-November this year.

Bumrah had to Undergo Surgery

Bumrah had undergone surgery in New Zealand last month. Jasprit has also got the advantage of his unique action but it puts more stress on his back, which often injures him.

Bishop, who played 43 Tests and 84 ODIs for the West Indies, believes that it will not be possible for Bumrah to change action at this stage of his career and he should play only in select tournaments amid a busy schedule. “I don’t think there is any recipe for workload management of fast bowlers because we cannot judge the mind and body of these great players,” Bishop told PTI. It is for the player himself and the administrators close to him to decide but I can give one advice to the governing bodies that you cannot play these players (like Bumrah) in every tournament.

There Will be Competition in the Test Championship

Bishop also said that even though India defeated Australia in the recent Test series at home, the situation will be completely different in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) to be held at the Oval in London in June. India will be playing in the WTC final for the second time in a row.
