Canterbury Magicians Lea Tahuhu blew her team to a Super Smash victory by five wickets at Central Hinds in New Plymouth on Friday.

The Chased Down Hinds’ Score of 112 :-

The middle-order batsman scored 29 runs off 10 balls when the run rate was taking off from the magicians as she chased down Hinds’ 112.

In the end, the Magicians achieved the objective with nine balls to spare, and the men at Pukekura Park were robbed at the end of the last over as Tahuhu put an end to Hinds’ bowling attack.

Magicians captain Frankie McKay won the toss and elected to bat, and it turned out to be a fine decision when Natalie Dodd fell off the first ball of the match.

Jess Watkin Bowls The Magician :-

The Hinds were in trouble when Kate Gagging and Georgia Atkinson fell in the fifth over. Jess Watkin attempted to save the situation by torturing the magician’s bowling, but in addition to hitting a boundary, she went on the next ball leaving one behind.

Hinds was at 51-5 after 11 overs, with a run rate of just 4.64, but the loss of wickets meant they could not launch hard.

Mikaela Gregg (29) and Hannah Rowe (39 not out) stabilized Hinds’ innings and the final score of 112-7 after 20 overs was the least contest.

With a simple score to chase, the Magicians lost an early wicket, with a fine catch by Natalie Cox Rowe at deep mid-wicket.

Satterthwaite and Jacinta settled in Savage, but the scoring became pedestrian and the Wizards were 31-2 after nine overs.

Melissa Hansen Caught :-

Satterthwaite fell victim to Monique Rees on the first ball of the 10th over, which was caught by Melissa Hansen, so the game was on as the required run rate at the last of that over was 7.40.

Hinds’ fielders dropped some easy catches as the Magicians reached 77-4 after 16 overs.

Then Lea Tahuhu took the curb, scoring 22 runs in an over from Hansen, and from then on the Magicians were able to cruise to victory.

The result gives the Magicians their third win in six games this season, while the Hinds have one win from seven matches.
