New Delhi: Pakistan had unfurled its national flag during their practice session in Mirpur, Bangladesh. There was a huge controversy regarding this incident. After this controversy broke out, the Pakistan cricket team had sought permission to hoist the India during practice, but now there has been a new twist in this development.
It is being told that a case has been filed against the Pakistan team in Dhaka. A case has been registered against the entire team, in which 21 players including the captain of the team Babar Azam have been named.
While Pakistan cricketers hoisted their national flag during the practice session, Bangladeshi countrymen took it as a political message amid the golden jubilee celebrations of the country’s independence. Although national flags are traditionally flown during international or bilateral games, the act was banned by the BCB in 2014. The BCB had banned foreign nations from carrying their national flag on their soil, but had to withdraw the decision due to widespread criticism.
After this incident, a fan wrote on Facebook page. “Different countries have come to Bangladesh innumerable times. Many matches played. But no country has needed to hoist its national flag during practice. But why did it… what does it represent?” However, when the controversy started to take hold on social media platforms, Pakistan media manager Ibrahim Badiji said that they have been in the practice of hoisting their national flag for a long time. Their practice started in the time of Saqlain Mushtaq and has been going on since then.
The media manager of the Pakistan team said in an interview to Sportstar, “This is not a new thing for us. It has been a part of his coaching philosophy since Saqlain Mushtaq joined the team. They feel that the flag of the country acts as an inspiration for the player.”
Pakistan is currently in Bangladesh. And the first Test of the two-match series will be on 26 November. At the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
