Chris Jordan Joins Sydney Sixers in Place of Carlos Brathwaite

Two-time defending BBL champion Sydney Sixers staged a coup with England fast Chris Jordan. As the international replacement for Carlos Brathwaite after the West Indies ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury.

Brathwaite has had surgery and is not available for the entire BBL. Chris Jordan signed on short notice along with fellow England internationals James Vince and Tom Curran to bolster the Sixers squad.

Chris Jordan has Previously Played for three Different BBL Clubs in three Different Seasons.

Jordan has previously played for three different BBL clubs in three different seasons. Starting with Adelaide Strikers in 2016-17, before a short stint with Sydney Thunder in 2018-19. He played almost the entire season with the Perth Scorchers in 2019-20 before leaving the tournament late due to international duty.

Jordan comes out of a T20 World Cup

Chris Jordan comes out of a T20 World Cup. Where he was arguably England’s best seamer. Who took six wickets at an economy rate of 6.84. Michael Klinger, Cricket NSW Head of Men’s Cricket, who oversees Sixers list management. He said Chris Jordan was a valuable addition.

Klinger said Chris Jordan is a world Class T20 Cricketer

“It is disappointing for Carlos and the group that he succumbed to an injury. But Chris Jordan is a world-class T20 cricketer and will deliver superb versatility and high-quality skills in all three aspects of the game,” Klinger said.

“His death bowling and changeups, as well as being one of the best fielders in the world, will be a huge asset to the Sixers in their BBL debut.

“He experienced in playing in the BBL. And has been successful in this tournament before.

“I know Greg Shippard (Sixers coach). And the rest of the coaching staff are very excited to have Chris on board.”

The Sixers will begin their new campaign on Sunday, 5 December against the Melbourne Stars at the SCG.
