Sri Lanka head coach Chris Silverwood bemoaned the lack of discipline among his bowlers following his team’s 67-run loss to India in the first ODI in Guwahati.
Chris said after the match –
“Obviously, we didn’t start well. If I have to be honest, our discipline was lacking at times in the first ten overs, and we allowed India to start well. This is a high-scoring ground. India knew that they had to get off to a good start and we allowed them to do that.”
Sri Lanka won the toss and gave India the win but Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on a 143-run partnership in just 19.4 overs to get the hosts going. Virat Kohli then scored his 45th ODI century to help India post 373 for 7.
Chris said –
“They took the momentum from him and we had to push back all the time to try to break down. And I think we did that for a while. But when you have a class batting line-up like India’s, Then it’s hard to stop them.”
