T20 World Cup 2022: Although the T20 World Cup 2022 is being played against Super 12, but in the first round, the West Indies team performed poorly, as the team was knocked out of the tournament after losing two out of three matches.

In such a situation, now the team’s head coach Phil Simmons will step down from his role at the end of this year. Simmons has been in charge of the West Indies coaching team since 2015 and in 2016 under his coaching the team won the second T20 World Cup.

Phil Simmons’s West Indies won only one match out of 3 :-

The ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia was disappointing for West Indies. With Simmons’ team winning just one in three matches and were knocked out of the tournament in the first round. This means Simmons, 59, will step down from his coaching position at the end of the year after West Indies’ two-match Test series in Australia in early December.

Simmons gave this reason for his resignation :-

Simmons, however, said the decision was not just because of West Indies’ poor performance in the T20 World Cup. But that he had been contemplating the move for a long time. He said, “I accept that it is not just the team that is hurting, but also proud countries they represent. It is disappointing and heartbreaking, but we are not broken yet.”

Phil Simmons will step down as head coach at the end of the Test series against Australia :-

He said, “We didn’t play well and now we have to watch a tournament without your participation. It is immeasurable and for this I deeply apologize to my fans and followers.

It’s not an easy reaction from a personal point of view. But a step I’ve been contemplating for some time . Now it’s time to make it public that I will step down as West Indies head coach at the end of the Test series against Australia.”
