CPL 2022: Guyana Amazon Warriors named Shimron Hetmyer as their captain for the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Thursday, August 18.
Hetmyer made his Warriors debut in 2016:-
Shimron replaces Nicholas Pooran, who will trade for Trinbago Knight Riders. Hetmyer made his debut for the Warriors in 2016 and played five seasons under the captaincy of Pooran, Shoaib Malik, and Chris Green.

Amazon Warriors President Bobby Ramrup said, “We are delighted to have appointed our first Guyana captain since the 2013 season.
Hetmyer has been a core part of our setup for years and we believe the time is right for him to lead the team,” he was quoted as saying.
Appointed as the new captain of the franchise:-
Hetmyer was also happy to be appointed as the new captain of the Guyana franchise. “I’m excited to lead this group of men. I can’t wait for the CPL to start,” Hetmyer said.
In 47 matches in the CPL, Hetmyer has scored 1149 runs at an average of 28.72 and a strike rate of 131.76 with a century and eight half-centuries to show for his efforts.
The Warriors begin their CPL 2022 campaign against the Jamaica Tallawahs at Warner Park in St Kitts on Saturday, 3 September.
