Cricket Australia: Australian players have to follow this new rule from October 1

Cricket Australia introduce new rule: Australia Cricket Board (CA) has implemented a new rule. Under this, all Australian domestic and international players will have to wear neck guards (Neck Guards Rule) from October 1. Players who do not follow the new rules will be sanctioned under the rules.

Philip Hughes died in 2014 :-

Cricket Australia had recommended the use of neck guards since the death of Phil Hughes in 2014, but several top batsmen, including David Warner and Steve Smith, refused to wear them. However, in the 2019 Ashes, Smith had to be ruled out of the next match after being hit by a bouncer from Joffra Archer.

Neck Guards Rule: Wearing neck guard is mandatory from October 1:-

From October 1, neck guards will have to be worn while playing international matches at home or abroad. Otherwise you will have to face sanctions under the new rules of CA. “Head and neck protection is extremely important in our game,” said Peter Roach, CA’s head of cricket operations and scheduling.

Bouncer was stuck in Cameron Green’s helmet:-

The order comes just a week after Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was hit on the neck guard attached to his helmet by a bouncer from Kagiso Rabada. Cameron Green had to be ruled out of the first ODI against South Africa due to injury.

Smith wearing neck protector :-

It is noteworthy that ahead of the 2023 Ashes, Smith wore a neck guard while playing for Sussex. Let us tell you that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has also made the use of neck protector mandatory from October 2022.
